I Know Who You Are by Alice Feeney

April 17, 2019

This is Alice Feeney's second book, my first. I’ve not read her debut but the blurb for this Psychological Thriller drew me in as i begin to read more of this type of book.

Aimee Sinclair ,an up and coming actress, returns home one day to find her husband Ben is missing, but all his belongings, wallet, phone, Passport and Car have been left behind along with a bunch of flowers with a card saying simply the word “ sorry”.

Things start to get stranger when Aimee realises their joint bank account has been drained of over £10,000 and closed. When Aimee tries to find out how and when this was done,  she is advised by the bank that she herself did it. She appears to doubt her own Sanity. Did she have something to do with her missing husband? the missing money? is she blocking traumas out as she did as a child?

We soon realise Aimee's marriage was an unhappy one, and the police, In particular D.I Alex Croft seem desperate to find Aimee guilty, Hounding her constantly.

Told in first person by Aimee, it’s written to make you feel very unsettled from the outset, Aimee is not a happy person, she has some secrets to hide.

The book is told in alternating chapters, in the present - 2017 and starting in 1997 where we learn the tale of Aimee’s childhood and discover how she has become who she is.

Whilst the book always feels dark and at times quite chilling , the childhood story in particular is disturbing and at times is uneasy reading and a constant sense of dread is always ith you.

The ending is superb, this will keep you guessing until the end.

Very cleverly written and also really well paced, there is no let off.

It’s just shy of 400 pages, I read this in 2 sittings of near on 200 pages each,it was very enjoyable, I flew through the pages wanting to know, constantly guessing and being wrong, this book is a cracker

Tense, dark at times, quietly disturbing, massively twisty and extremely clever, this is a very good psychological Thriller and probably the best of this Genre i've read this year

Highly Recommended.
